Job summary

Salinas Valley Health is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform diagnostic imaging procedures across modalities including X-ray and CT or angiography. The role requires patient preparation, contrast administration, and coordination with physicians to ensure efficient exams.

You will transport and position patients, monitor safety, and document procedures in the RIS/HIS system while maintaining licensure CEUs and CPR.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a two-year Radiologic Technology training program approved by the AMA is required.
  • CRT and Fluoroscopy licenses, ARRT certificates for Radiology and CT are required; current BLS status required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs at least two modalities in diagnostic imaging (X-ray with CT or Angiography) and assists physicians.
  • Transports patients by stretcher, bed, wheelchair, or walking and assists during procedures.
  • Prepares patients for exams, administers contrast and starts IVs as needed.
  • Monitors patient condition pre and post-procedure and reports changes to Radiologist or RN.
  • Performs data entry in RIS/HIS and documents contrast use per protocol.
  • Attends department meetings and maintains licensure CEUs and CPR.

Department:

Diagnostic Imaging

Under minimal supervision, performs specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as requested by a physician to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit. Performs other duties as assigned. Performs any combination of the following duties depending on the area of assignment.

Primary Job Duties:
  • Performs at least two separate modalities in Diagnostic Imaging such as: X-ray and either Angiography or Computed Tomography of the following areas: neuro, abdominal, chest and extremities. Assists physicians in performing other fluoroscopic procedures as needed.

  • Transports patients by stretcher, bed, wheelchair, or walking. Provides care for patients during transportation and within the department, if necessary.

  • Assists patients by lifting and moving them off and on the x-ray table. Provides bedpans and urinals as needed. Assures that patients are properly dressed for procedures.

  • Prepares patient for their exam by consenting, explaining exam and answering patient questions.

  • Starts intravenous lines and administers contrast and other preparations as to complete exam in a timely fashion.

  • Cares for patient during procedures by assisting them to rest rooms, providing blankets, etc.

  • Monitors patient condition pre and post-procedure and reports changes in the patient’s condition to Radiologistor RN for follow-up.

  • Assists with emergency medical treatment under physician direction.

  • Pulls contrast from medication dispenser per protocol and documents contrast in hospital information system (HIS) per protocol.

  • Loads the power injector for contrast studies.

  • Technologist may give contrast medias and may flush lines with normal saline contrast/normal saline.

  • Under direct supervision of the Radiologist, the technologist may pull Xylocaine for procedure.

  • Under direct supervision of the Radiologist, the technologist may use heparinized saline to flush catheters.

  • Performs data entry in computer systems necessary for work flow and patient care, such as: Radiology information system (RIS) and hospital information system (HIS).

  • Performs related duties such as reporting equipment malfunctions, assisting others, and special assignments. Cleans work area and replenishes supplies.

  • Attends regularly scheduled department meetings and in-services to maintain working knowledge of changes in machines, and protocols. Maintains CEU’s and CPR for license.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education: Completion of a two-year Radiologic Technology training program approved by the American Medical Association (AMA) required .

Licensure: CRT (California Radiologic Technologist) and Fluoroscopy license, ARRT (American College of Radiologic Technologist) certificates (R )- Radiology and for CT Techs (CT ) Computed Tomography are required. Current BLS/Healthcare Provider status as per American Heart Association standards required. Valid Driver’s License required.

Experience: One year of experience as a licensed Radiologic technologist required. One year of experience in either CT or Angiography/Special Procedures preferred.

The hourly rate for this position is $55.77 - $70.66. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the target for new hire salaries for this position.
