Position Purpose:
Operates x-ray equipment, develops film, prepares radiographic room, and administers contrast media.

The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This position requires a high level of technical skill, patient care, safety awareness, and the ability to work efficiently across various settings, including portable and surgical environments.
Prepare exam rooms, equipment, and contrast materials as required.
Introduce self, verify patient identity, explain procedures clearly, and ensure patient comfort and safety.
Consistently produce high-quality radiographs using proper positioning and technique.
Process films using automatic and CR (Computed Radiography) systems.
Accurately apply patient identification and anatomical markers on all images.
Adhere strictly to radiation safety guidelines including shielding, identifying pregnancy status, and using PPE.
Operate radiology equipment in various environments (e.g., portables, OR).
Maintain working knowledge of other departmental functions: front desk, file room, and patient transport.
Complete assigned imaging procedures efficiently during scheduled shifts.
Use the chain of command appropriately for suggestions or concerns.
Respond reliably when on-call, maintaining proximity to the facility.
Enter accurate and complete patient and procedure data into the hospital information system.
Verify requisitions and check for special instructions or contraindications.
Perform darkroom duties such as:
CR plate maintenance
Mixing and handling processing chemicals
Cleaning screens and cassettes
Loading laser film
Film duplication
Demonstrate competency in:
Digital tray room
Special procedure rooms
Portable x-ray units
C-arms
Conduct imaging for all patient types including:
Routine
Pediatric
Geriatric
Emergency
Understand and perform accurate positioning and correct views for:
Routine exams
Fluoroscopy
Special procedures
Apply proper usage of:
Technique charts
Contrast media
Grids and cassettes
Oxygen and suction units
CR plates
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the hospital’s mission.
Complete all required training, education, and competencies by assigned deadlines.
Maintain regular attendance and punctuality; attend departmental meetings.
Support a culture of safety; report all incidents promptly.
Uphold the facility’s Mission, Vision, and Code of Conduct.
Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies (e.g., HIPAA, OSHA, TJC, CMS).
Deliver excellent customer service and demonstrate professionalism and teamwork.
Education and Certifications:
Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
BLS (CPR) certification required within 30 days of hire.
Current ARRT certification and valid Texas MRT license required.
Prior experience in Radiology preferred.
