Job description

Position Overview

UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring a Radiology Tech CT Simulator to join our UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center. This Monday through Friday job has schedules from 6:00‑am‑3‑pm, 7:00‑am‑4‑pm or 8:00‑am‑5‑pm located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Weekend call shifts are also available.

The employee will be required to attend a Radiation Therapy school approximately one year program. The tuition will be paid by UNMCCC with a contract to work as a Radiation Therapist for three years after passing the board exam. If the individual fails or quits, the employee would reimburse UNMCCC for all monies paid for school.

Education and Training

• Enrollment in Radiation Therapy school within one to two academic years from hire date.
• Program tuition covered by UNMCCC.
• Contract to work as a Radiation Therapist for three years post exam.
• If enrolled but not accepted into RTT program, cannot maintain position.
• Board exam within six months after enrollment, no more than two attempts. Successful exam leads to reclassification as Radiation Therapist.

Summary

Under general supervision, the Radiology Tech CT Simulator performs prescribed radiologic, ultrasound, and/or CT procedures requiring specialized knowledge. The role may include preparing and administering chemical mixtures as appropriate, supporting research or clinical environments, and maintaining safety and environmental practices.

Minimum Job Requirements

• American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) Certification.
• State of New Mexico RRT License.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• Minimum GPA of 2.5 or greater for Radiation Therapy program eligibility.
• No experience required; degree from an accredited institution may be substituted for experience on a year‑by‑year basis.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Maintains stock supplies; assists in purchasing; performs general office duties for billing, forms, and scheduling.
• Prepares patients for radiographic, ultrasound, or CT scan procedures; explains procedures and positions patients.
• Follows prescribed procedure for radiography, ultrasound, or CT scans; calibrates equipment; arranges immobilization and support devices.
• Prepares written status reports and maintains records of work performed.
• Calibrates equipment, prepares medicine and materials, cleans and disinfects equipment per sterile procedures and standards.
• Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
