Qualifications

Job description

Job Title: Radiology Tech- Lic. CV Tech (will train)

Unit: Cath Lab

Shift: 7a-5:30p - Full time

Facility: MVH

**Sign On Bonus Eligible - up to $30K**

Performs advanced practice cardiac cath and peripheral angiography, electrophysiologic studies, therapeutic interventional procedures, and cardiac device implantation procedures. Provides peri-procedural care and education for patients. Assists cardiologists and other specialists performing diagnostic and interventional procedures. Maintains records and documentation for procedures.

Essential Duties & Functions:

  1. Performs routine and emergent Cath Lab examinations according to section assignment.
  2. Maintains manual and computerized patient and department records, respecting confidentiality. Initiates computer archive functions to store or retrieve patient information. Performs associated clerical tasks as needed.
  3. Assists cardiologist to perform image guided procedures; providing appropriate supplies as needed.
  4. Communicates with other caregivers to ensure continuity and appropriateness of patient care.
  5. Provides patient and family education related to imaging procedures.
  6. Applies knowledge and safety principles to ensure radiation protection to achieve radiation exposures ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable), for patients, self, and others.
  7. Applies knowledge and principles of Universal Precautions, aseptic and sterile techniques, to minimize exposure to/spread of infectious organisms.

Other Duties & Functions:

  1. Ensures safe, positive environment for assigned area, observing applicable safety and regulatory rules.
  2. Performs and documents equipment QC according to department protocol; recognizes and reports any malfunction or variation to supervisor, maintenance, or engineering.
  3. Provides practical instruction for students and other health care professionals.
  4. Demonstrates effective communication and conflict resolution techniques with patients, coworkers, physicians, and other health care members.
  5. Uses supplies appropriately to minimize waste and expense.

Education:

Education Required: Associate degree

Additional requirements:

  • Type of degree: Health Science
  • Area of study or major: Radiology and/or Cardiovascular Technology

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • Amer Reg of Radiologic Technologists
  • Licensed Radiology Technologist
  • BLS – Basic Life Support
  • ACLS Adv Cardiac Life Support – within 90 days of hire.

Experience:

Experience Required: No prior job-related work experience

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of normal and common variants of cross-sectional anatomy and the human vascular structure.
  • Knowledge and basic operation and performance of angiographic equipment.
  • Basic computer literacy and applications for data entry, record maintenance.
  • Ability to recognize life threatening conditions and implement basic life sustaining actions.
  • Ability to accurately position the body for imaging. Utilize techniques to physically manipulate and apply accessories to produce a desired image.
  • Ability to select technical factors and operate imaging equipment to produce quality diagnostic images.
  • Use of beam restricting devices, patient shielding techniques, proper screen-film combinations, assessment and implementation of appropriate exposure factors to minimize radiation exposure.
