Job summary

LCMC Health seeks a Radiology Technologist Assistant to support the radiology department with clerical duties, patient transport, room preparation and cleaning, and supplies management.

You will interact with technologists and radiologists to ensure efficient protocols and a positive patient experience, while maintaining safety standards across East Jefferson General Hospital in Louisiana.

Qualifications

• Required: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent OR 2 years of work experience.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients throughout radiology.
• Assists with preparing rooms for examinations and dressing patients.
• Sets up and maintains exam rooms and work areas for safety.
• Recognizes emergent situations and responds appropriately; calls codes as needed.
• Identifies orders in Epic; coordinates with technologists and radiologists for protocols.
• Ensures compliance with body substance isolation and safety protocols.

The Radiology Technologist Assistant assists the department with various clerical requirements. Assists with preparing rooms for patients, cleaning rooms after patients, stocking supplies and linen, transporting patients, answering phones, communicating with technologists and being an integral part of a positive patient experience.

GENERAL DUTIES

• Transports patients throughout radiology, including possibly to and from emergency department or inpatient units.
• Facilitates getting patients ready for examinations including dressing patients. Assists patients on and off the examination tables.
• Sets up rooms for examinations or procedures. Maintains exam rooms and work areas in a neat and safe condition, to ensure the safety of the patients and employees.
• Recognizes emergent situations and responds appropriately. Calls codes as needed.
• Identifies orders in epic, coordinates with technologist and radiologists when protocols are needed for examination. Check current lab values on patients receiving contrast.
• Adheres to the hospital policy on body substance isolation.
• Demonstrates safety for patients, staff and self as outlined in department and hospital protocols and regulatory guidelines, to ensure the safety of the patients and staff.
• Answers the telephone, taking messages and returning calls when instructed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Required: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent OR 2 years of work experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (CPR, BLS) - American Heart Association.
