Position: Tech - Radiology/Imaging

POSITION SUMMARY: The Tech - Radiology/Imaging operates ionizing radiation producing equipment, under licensure from the Texas Medical Board. The technologist ensures appropriate image processing utilizing the systems acquisition systems and the PACS system, prepares exam rooms and gathers supplies for ordered exams. The Technologist ensures equipment is in proper working order ensuring safety of the patient and staff. The tech must maintain a clean and sanitary environment as well as proper cleaning of the equipment. The Technologist assist Radiologist and providers ensuring the correct exam is performed in a safe environment. The Technologist utilizes the Principles of Continuous Quality Improvement. The RT works with all age groups (pediatric, geriatric, trauma, surgical).

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Performs a variety of technical procedures.
  2. Assist Radiologist and staff physicians as needed.
  3. Shows appropriate radiographic skills.
  4. Demonstrates accurate and safe patient care.
  5. Uses immobilization devices, maintains HIPPA compliance and performs contrast injections if part of job requirement.
  6. Utilizes the appropriate leadership skills in supervising, delegating, and evaluating performance of students.
  7. Exhibits good communications skills, problem resolution and critical thinking.
  8. Is a professional role model to all personnel.
  9. Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitor and employees.
  10. The Technologist assesses risk to patient safety and implements the appropriate precaution.
  11. The Technologist will comply with appropriate and approved standards to include: Radiation Safety (ALARA), patient related safety, and infection control.

Qualifications

Education, Training, Experience and Licenses/Registrations Required:

Current: ARRT, Texas License, and CPR certification.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

  1. Ability to read and write in English.
  2. Ability to speak and hear, to allow discussions with employees and peers.
  3. Ability to cope with and remain calm under stress.
  4. Dosimetry processes adhered to.
  5. Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions.
  6. Bending and lifting (50-75 lbs), grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling.
  7. Electrical and radiant energy hazards where present.
  8. Timely response to pages or emergent requests.
  9. Near visual acuity and depth perception to examine images for pertinent detail.
  10. Wears appropriate protective garments, i.e. PPE or Lead attire for radiation protection.
