Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Radiology Assistant to support the Radiology-Diagnostic department at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center. This hourly role involves patient coordination, exam review requests, and charting in PACS/RIS systems.

The position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and adherence to HIPAA. Duties include digitizing imaging, preparing and distributing schedules, and supporting physicians and staff in fast-paced clinical settings.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in healthcare, radiology, or hospital environment preferred.
• Familiarity with PACS, RIS, RASI, Cerner, or other healthcare information systems is a plus.
• Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
• Successful completion of required orientation and training programs.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones professionally and identify yourself while following the AIDET initiative.
• Assist physicians, patients, and staff with requests to review radiology exams and results.
• Burn CDs upon request and verify accuracy of patient and exam information.
• Digitize fluoroscopy and OR films with correct information entry.
• Process requests to sign out patient studies, ensuring inclusion of all studies and results while maintaining logs.
• Retrieve PACS studies and print films with correct window levels.
• Scan patient information into RASI and McKesson PACS accurately.
• Use RIS to verify patient demographics and radiology orders status.
• Enter radiology billing codes into Cerner.
• Import outside CDs for internal and external customers.
• Maintain patient privacy and HIPAA compliance.
• Print and distribute Radiology outpatient schedules.
