ProMedica Toledo Hospital is one of the largest acute-care facilities in the region. Our 794-bed hospital is staffed by more than 4,800 professional healthcare employees who serve a 27-county area throughout northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reports to the Radiology Manager/Director of assigned area.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under general direction, supervises the daily work performed in his/her respective area of the Department of Radiology & Diagnostic Imaging.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Supervises, assists, and advises technologists in the performance of radiologic/imaging procedures and ensures proficiency of staff.
  • Confers with radiologists and manager on procedural and/or policy changes. Relays this information to staff.
  • Maintains appropriate levels of staffing, scheduling staff in line with department needs and budget. Oversees associate work schedules and payroll for area of responsibility.
  • Tracks daily, weekly, and bi-weekly staff productivity by utilizing a productivity tool to meet established department productivity target.
  • Conducts performance evaluations, recommends disciplinary action, and participates in the interview process. Participates in the orientation and in-service programs relating to the imaging areas of responsibility.
  • Performs qualitative checks on equipment and procedures. Works to improve the diagnostic quality of the examinations. Coordinates service and preventative maintenance. Participates in the evaluation of new equipment and products.
  • Ensures compliance of all regulatory requirements. Maintains confidentiality of all patient data.
  • Runs area with operational effectiveness, meeting benchmarks and budgets.
  • Demonstrates competency in using the radiology information and imaging systems (HIS, RIS, PACS, etc.) for the purpose of correctly ordering exams, supplies and other data input.
  • Functions as a staff technologist, when necessary, to include on-call.
  • Demonstrates high levels of care, courtesy, and cooperation. Educates patient about their procedure and ensures patients and their families’ safety, comfort and needs are appropriately addressed in a dignified, confidential manner.
  • Follows organization’s mission and values of customer service. Continuously works at providing a positive work environment reflective of high employee satisfaction.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduate of an AMA-approved radiologic technology program or related field

Skills: Must be able to cope with stressful situations and handle deadlines in a demanding, fast-paced medical environment. Must be able to understand directions, communicate and respond to inquiries; requires effective interpersonal skills. Must be competent in use of facility communication systems and equipment (e.g., phones, fax machines, IBEX). Must be able to input and retrieve information from radiological or other medical equipment and computerized systems.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Personal Protective Equipment:May be required to wear mask, gloves, or gown. Possible exposure to infectious and contagious disease, chemicals, toxic substances, and bloodborne pathogens from blood and/or bodily fluids. Must be able to tolerate possible exposure to radiation and electrical hazards, and blood borne pathogens or bodily fluids; must be able to tolerate wearing heavy protective garments for extended periods of time.

Physical Demands:Must be able to move about the facility and between workstations and to handle stooping, standing, walking, and lifting as required by the position. Must be able to see, hear, and move intermittently, or use prosthetics that will enable you to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Must be able to move about the facility and between workstations, standing, walking, and lifting as required by position. May require irregular hours and will result in occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. Must be able to tolerate possible exposure to radiation and electrical hazards, blood borne pathogens or bodily fluids.
