Qualifications

• One year of nursing experience required.
• ONCC Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Certificate required for those RNs administering chemotherapy.
• APHON Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider card required within 12 months for those RNs administering chemotherapy in pediatric setting.
• ACLS required for ICU, ED, PACU, Endo, Tele, OB, MHN areas.
• PALS required for Pediatric areas; 30 days to obtain if non-pediatric background.
• NRP certification required for NICU; 30 days to obtain.
• Fetal Monitoring certification required for L&D RNs before completion of orientation.
• RN Fellowship Program requires one year of RN independent practice.
• RN Fellowship specialties require ACLS and/or PALS.
• Newly licensed RNs have six months to obtain ACLS and PALS.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care in a specialty unit per scope and standards.
• Evaluates learning needs of the patient and family and provides education.
• Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care based on assessment.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition.
• Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel and may precept students.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including disposition and referrals.
