Qualifications

• Accredited nursing program required.
• ACLS and BLS certifications required for identified units (ICU, ED, PACU, Endo, Tele, OB, MHN).
• PALS required for pediatric areas; must obtain within 30 days if coming from non-pediatric background.
• NRP certification required for NICU; must obtain within 30 days if coming from non-NICU background.
• RN Fellowship programs require one year of independent practice; ACLS and BLS required.
• Fetal monitoring certification must be completed prior to completion of job orientation.

Responsibilities

• Delegates patient care to ancillary personnel and may precept students/new hires.
• Plans, implements, and evaluates care based on assessments to optimize outcomes.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care and disposition.
• Documents and communicates patient status; ensures patient and family education.
• Assesses learning needs of patient/family and provides education appropriate to age and culture.
