Description:The Client Fetal Medicine Sonographer provides specialized high-risk obstetric ultrasound services.This role assists in the diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of maternal and fetal conditions.The position involves performing a wide range of advanced OB ultrasound examinations.The sonographer assists physicians with invasive procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.The role includes selecting appropriate equipment and transducers, educating patients, and obtaining relevant health histories.Effective communication with patients and support persons is essential.Advanced expertise is required in detecting and evaluating fetal pathology.The sonographer communicates findings to the physician and ensures diagnostic quality imaging.
Essential Job Functions include:Performing high-risk obstetric ultrasound studies according to established protocols.Assisting with invasive obstetric procedures as directed.Importing images and clinical data into systems, ensuring accurate patient record documentation.Evaluating fetal anatomy, growth, and well-being while identifying abnormal findings.Providing patient education and support before, during, and after procedures.Maintaining examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness, and readiness for procedures.Performing high-level disinfection of ultrasound transducers per infection control standards.Collaborating with physicians and clinical staff to ensure coordinated patient care.Participating in quality improvement initiatives and departmental process improvements.Mentoring and supporting new sonographers and students.
