Radiation Therapy Technologist

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-24 week contract position, depending on the return from maternity leave.

Schedule

Varied open and close shifts from 5:30 AM to 5:00 PM. No weekend, holiday, on-call, or float requirements.

Job Description

The Radiation Therapy Technologist is responsible for the delivery of ionizing radiation to treat patients as per the Radiation Oncologist's prescription and simulation instructions.

Responsibilities

• Administers radiation treatments and monitors delivery to ensure safety and effectiveness.
• Prepares equipment and room, ensuring clear documentation and informed consent.
• Transfers and positions patients while providing clear instruction regarding equipment and procedures.
• Performs simulations and constructs immobilization devices as necessary.
• Conducts calculations for monitor units and applies individualized treatment techniques.
• Maintains a clean and functional workspace, stocks supplies, and responds to patient needs.
• Assists in teaching Radiation Therapy to students during their clinical rotations.
• Identifies and modifies care delivery based on the specific needs of diverse patient populations.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

1-2 years of required experience with a preference for 3-5 years. Must have experience with True Beam, accelerators, and SIMS. Strong communication, empathy, and adaptability skills are essential.
