Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Diagnostic Radiology physician to provide expert patient care and imaging interpretation. The role includes reviewing exam requests, prescribing protocols, and ensuring high-quality imaging and safety standards across modalities.

Ideal candidates will hold an MD with approved residency training, be board-certified or eligible in relevant radiology subspecialties, and participate in EDRP programs and comprehensive total rewards.

Qualifications

  • US citizenship or eligible per VA policy for appointment.
  • MD or equivalent from an approved school.
  • Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the US.
  • Residency training approved by the VA/Secretary of Veterans Affairs.
  • Board certification or eligible in nuclear medicine interpretations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise in Diagnostic Radiology and patient care.
  • Review exam requests for appropriateness and prescribe protocols.
  • Oversee image quality and safety, including contrast administration.
  • Interpret imaging exams (plain film, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine).
  • Provide education to patients and coordinate with CPRS orders.
  • Participate in medical staff meetings and quality assurance activities.

Residency completed in ACGME/AOA core specialty
