Description:The essential functions of this position include performing magnetic resonance imaging on patients utilizing highly technical equipment and administering contrast materials as required.
Prepare the scan room and patient for examination.
Draw up IV contrast if needed; administer oral contrast if indicated; perform warm-up procedures on equipment; enter patient data and appropriate scan parameters; review patient data to assure proper exam; and review previous exams.
Interview and screen patients for contraindications prior to having an MRI study; explain the procedure and answer patient questions.
Transport the patient into the exam room, assist with appropriate patient positioning for the exam, determine if the patient is allergic to anything, inject appropriate IV contrast, and perform scans with attention to proper positioning.
Be alert for the need for additional or thinner slices/images.
Utilize correct protocols, coils, restraints, and other materials when scanning.
Assure proper marking concerning the orientation of the patient; enter images with the keypad, paying attention to the order of images.
Prepare records for the radiologist and ensure that all clinical information is complete; assure that exam images are in the correct order; provide additional information as required.
One weekend per month (7 AM - 3:30 PM) is required.
