Description:The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing mammography examinations following industry requirements.This position assists with breast ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy, breast localization, and other radiologic-guided procedures.Performs diagnostic and screening mammographic examinations on adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients in a professional manner.Assists in mammographic imaging for breast needle localization and stereotactic procedures, including setup and cleanup.Provides immobilization devices and selects proper technical factors based on individual patient needs.Identifies patient films with the correct name, x-ray number, and correctly marks films regarding the side of the patient.Develops exposed x-ray film using processing methods.Completes patient requisitions with technologist's initials, date, number, and size of films.Assists with quality control procedures and documentation of various quality control tests.Assists in patient education, including pre- and post-procedure instructions.Prepares cases to be imaged, including chart and films.Compiles statistics for patient follow-ups, tracking of breast localizations, biopsies, and ultrasound examinations.Documents procedures regarding quality control and quality assurance in compliance with relevant standards.Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies care that is specific to those needs.Communicates with patients and caregivers at their level of understanding.Performs other duties and projects as assigned.Adheres to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
