The Radiology Intake Representative is responsible for managing the flow of Radiology patient data, from appointment scheduling, authorization, and registration, to final report. This includes reviewing physician orders, diagnosis, and reimbursement requirements through patient and physician contracts. Responsibilities include accurately collecting patient information and medical history for scheduling, preparing medical records, and completing final reports for Radiology exams using multiple computer systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduling for all imaging studies, including correlating patient data and preparing files for radiologists. Pre-register and register all scheduled studies, review radiology orders and patient histories, and gather necessary information for procedures. Verify insurance requirements, obtain authorizations, and handle appeals for denied authorizations. Manage off-site facility operations, including scheduling, authorization, and registration.
- Respond to inquiries from physicians, nursing staff, radiologists, and technical staff to facilitate scheduling and exam completion. Coordinate transportation for patients when needed and perform follow-up calls post-procedure. Upload prior studies into PACS, monitor system reports, and coordinate daily clerical schedules. Ensure timely release of reports, films, and CDs/DVDs, and maintain inventory supplies.
- Assist in coordinating daily work schedules, support team coverage, and participate in training new employees. Complete required e-learning modules and perform other duties as assigned, including monitoring report audits and faxing reports to physicians.
Qualifications
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in data entry and computer systems, including Epic, Google/Microsoft Office, and PowerScribe.
Preferred Qualifications
- Related experience in a hospital setting.
