Job summary

University Health Truman Medical Center in Kansas City is seeking a Medical Imaging Communications Coordinator to serve as the central communication hub for the Medical Imaging/Radiology department. In this role, you’ll connect patients, providers, and clinical teams, prioritizing calls, ensuring timely routing, and maintaining HIPAA-compliant communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in healthcare, medical imaging, call center, or customer service.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, particularly radiology imaging terms.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to stay calm in a high-volume environment.
• Discretion with confidential information and HIPAA compliance.
• Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team.
• Proficiency with Excel, databases, or call-tracking tools.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for Medical Imaging/Radiology calls across University Health.
• Receive, assess, and route calls from patients, providers, physicians, and staff.
• Coordinate communication between radiologists, residents, technologists, clinical teams, and other departments.
• Relay urgent imaging results notifications according to department protocols.
• Maintain knowledge of radiology services and on-call schedules.
• Document call activity using Excel, databases, call-log tools, or other electronic systems.
• Help streamline communication workflows so interpreting physicians and clinical teams can remain focused on patient care.
• Build strong working relationships with individuals across diverse clinical, professional, and cultural backgrounds.
