Job summary

Atrium Staffing is seeking a Radiology & Bone Densitometry Technologist for a sports medicine–focused clinical practice in Massachusetts. The role performs general radiography and DXA scans, ensuring high-quality imaging and patient safety, with close collaboration to clinicians.

Requirements include an MA radiologic license, ARRT certification, 2+ years of imaging experience, and proficiency with DXA and EHR systems. Strong communication and independent work ability are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of clinical imaging experience.
  • Active MA Radiologic Technologist license (or eligible).
  • ARRT certification required.
  • Experience with radiology equipment, DXA systems, and EHRs.
  • Strong communication and patient education skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general radiographic imaging as ordered.
  • Conduct DXA scans for bone density and body composition.
  • Review exam requisitions for clinical appropriateness.
  • Explain procedures, safety protocols, and radiation risks to patients.
  • Apply ALARA principles to radiation safety.
  • Position patients accurately and safely.
  • Collaborate with physicians and clinical teams.
  • Maintain and calibrate radiology/DXA equipment.
  • Ensure regulatory, clinical, and quality standards compliance.
  • Support scheduling, documentation, coding, and imaging workflows.
  • Maintain continuing education and required certifications.

Client Overview:

Our client is a sports-focused, patient-centered medical practice dedicated to supporting athletes and active individuals across their lifespan. The organization emphasizes musculoskeletal health, performance optimization, and preventive care, using advanced diagnostic imaging and a collaborative, team-based clinical approach. They are currently looking to add a Radiology & Bone Densitometry Technologist to their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$65/hr - $68/hr Competitive and commensurate with experience

Position Overview:

The Radiology & Bone Densitometry Technologist plays a vital role in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging, including general radiography and DXA scans, to support patient care focused on performance, injury prevention, and long-term bone health. This role combines technical expertise, patient education, and close collaboration with medical providers to deliver an exceptional patient experience.

Responsibilities of the Radiology & Bone Densitometry Technologist:
  • Perform general radiographic imaging as ordered by licensed providers.
  • Conduct DXA scans for bone density and body composition analysis.
  • Review imaging requisitions to ensure appropriate exams based on clinical needs.
  • Explain imaging procedures, safety protocols, and radiation risks to patients.
  • Apply ALARA principles to ensure radiation safety.
  • Position patients accurately while ensuring comfort and safety.
  • Collaborate with Physicians and Clinical team members to support coordinated care.
  • Maintain and calibrate radiology and DXA equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, clinical, and quality standards.
  • Support scheduling, documentation, coding, and imaging workflows.
  • Maintain continuing education and required certifications.
Required Experience/Skills for the Radiology & Bone Densitometry Technologist:
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical imaging experience.
  • Active Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist license.
  • ARRT certification.
  • Proficiency with radiology equipment, DXA systems, and electronic health records.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to patient safety, comfort, and education.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Radiology & Bone Densitometry Technologist:
  • Certification from the International Society for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD).
  • BLS certification.
Education Requirements:
  • Associate’s degree or higher in Radiologic Technology is required.
