Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a patient support assistant in our Radiology Imaging Department. You will greet patients, assist with paperwork, and coordinate transport and preparation for examinations.

The role supports technical staff, helps with positioning and safety, and ensures RIS is used properly while maintaining confidentiality of records.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an associate or bachelor’s degree medical imaging program with intention of hospital-based radiologic school enrollment when eligible.

Responsibilities

Job description

• Greets patients upon arrival, aids in filling out necessary paperwork and transports patients to appropriate imaging areas.
• Answers telephone calls for area and routes call appropriately.
• Performs clerical functions as required and requested.
• Assists in patient preparation and completion of examinations.
• Observes a patient when required.
• Assists in patient positioning and lifting and transporting when needed.
• Assists in ensuring all necessary supplies are available and stocked.
• Assists technical staff with any/all duties necessary for completion of imaging studies.
• Applies principles of patient safety during all aspects of patient care.
• Effectively uses Radiology Information System.
• Maintains confidentiality and an ethical relationship with all patients and medical records.
• Must be enrolled in an associate or bachelor’s degree medical imaging program with intention of hospital-based radiologic school enrollment when eligible.
