Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for performing patient assessments, patient management, and select exam procedures in an out-patient diagnostic imaging environment under direct guidance and supervision of a Radiologist. Responds to patient questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and processes while maintaining appropriate confidentiality about diagnosis. Provides film library and clerical support for the department.

Principal Accountabilities:

1. Generates preliminary image report evaluations, interventional studies, and bone density exams for the supervising Radiologist.
2. Obtains and reviews accuracy of patient's prescriptions prior to performing exams.
3. Provides courteous and professional fluoroscopy procedures/exams to all incoming patients.
4. Completes all paperwork associated with technical procedures.
5. Responds to Physician's questions and needs regarding patient procedures.
6. Transports patients safely from one area of the hospital to another for diagnostic testing, room transfers, or other needs.
7. Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. 0-3 years of experience as a Radiology Assistant, in Patient Care or relevant area.
3. American Heart Association BLS Certification.
4. Experience and familiarity with radiology and medical terminology and basic computer skills.

Preferred:
1. Certified Medical Assistant or currently enrolled in a Radiology Technologist program.
