Mercyhealth seeks a patient transport associate to assist with patient movement, escorting to imaging and other areas, and handling patient belongings in a multi-hospital system. You will support technologists and ensure safe transport within the facility during patient stays, using beds, wheelchairs, or carts as needed.
The role requires a high school diploma, CPR/BLS certification within 90 days, infection control knowledge, and the ability to operate transport equipment.
High school diploma or equivalent; one to three months related experience and/or training preferred.
Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days.
Knowledge of infection control, hand washing, barrier devices.
Demonstrate use of patient transport and lifting equipment, 02 equipment, infusion pumps, foley catheters, IV and all fluid lines, chest tubes and wound vacs.
Special need patient transport such as seizure watch and pediatrics.
Insure that patient transport equipment is maintained.
Assists technologists with setting up exams and patient positioning.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software: Payroll systems and Word Processing software.
