Job summary

Sygnetics Healthcare seeks two locum Diagnostic Radiology Physicians to provide diagnostic imaging and therapeutic services for veterans at the Providence, RI VA Healthcare System. Interpret X-Ray, CT, and MRI in Body, Neuro, or MSK subspecialties with on-site coverage.

Dunstan flexible assignments with on-call rotations to support department needs. Physicians must be board-certified or board-eligible, with duties including protocoling studies, radiation dose planning, and timely reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Review imaging requests for appropriateness and provide appropriate protocols and oversight to radiology technologists.
  • Protocol examinations and prescribe contrast agents, medications, and radiation doses in accordance with professional industry standards and ACR guidelines.
  • Communicate imaging protocols to radiology technologists and imaging staff.
  • Adhere to ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles in all radiation-related activities.
  • Provide interpretations of diagnostic imaging studies within the turnaround times: STAT within 1 hour; ASAP within 8 hours; Routine within 48 hours.
  • Communicate critical findings in accordance with departmental policies and participate in multidisciplinary conferences.

Job description

Position Overview

We have an immediate need for 2 locum Diagnostic Radiology Physicians to provide diagnostic and therapeutic medical services for our veteran population at the Providence, RI VA Healthcare System. This role offers a flexible assignment with an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while experiencing Rhode Island's rich natural landscapes and family-friendly attractions.

Contracted physicians must be able to provide Diagnostic Radiology interpretations of: X-Ray CT and/or MRI in at least one of the following adult diagnostic radiology subspecialties: Body, Neuro, MSK.

Scope of Care

Contractor's physician(s) may be responsible for providing Diagnostic Radiology interpretations, depending on current needs of the department and radiologists' areas of expertise, including but not limited to:

  • Fluoroscopy (speech cine, barium esophagram)
  • Ultrasound: Body, Extremity, Venous, Extremity Nonvascular, MSK
  • CT: Head, Body, MSK
  • MRI: Neuro, Body, MSK
  • Nuclear Medicine, DEXA
  • Doctor may provide interpretations depending on current needs of the department and radiologists' areas of expertise, including but not limited to above subspecialties.
Clinic Duties

Contractor's radiologist(s) shall be physically present on-site on time for all scheduled clinic hours, Monday through Friday, as documented by sign-in at the scheduled start time.

Clinical duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Review imaging requests for appropriateness and provide appropriate protocols and oversight to radiology technologists.
  • Protocol examinations and prescribe contrast agents, medications, and radiation doses in accordance with professional industry standards and ACR guidelines.
  • Communicate imaging protocols to radiology technologists and imaging staff.
  • Adhere to ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles in all radiation-related activities.
  • Provide interpretations of diagnostic imaging studies within the following turnaround times in the approved reporting system: STAT studies within one (1) hour; ASAP studies within eight (8) hours; Routine studies within forty-eight (48) hours.
  • Communicate critical, urgent, and unexpected findings in accordance with departmental policies.
  • Identify and report poor image quality or equipment performance using appropriate facility reporting channels.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary conferences and clinical consultations.
Must Be Board Certified / Board Eligible

Credentialing and onboarding takes approximately 4 weeks.

Hours & Schedule

Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:00am-5:00pm (Specific 8-hour daily schedule determined upon start).

On Call Required: 5 physician rotating schedule, Federal holidays excluded.

Items Required for Submission
  • Current CV without any gaps over 30 days since completion of medical school—written explanations are accepted.
  • One active, unrestricted Medical License in any state.
  • Current DEA BLS—American Heart Association (AHA) required.
  • 3 Current References.
  • Signed LOI.
