Qualifications

In this role as our Radiologic Technologist Trainee (RTT), you will observe and learn how to produce diagnostic images using a variety of radiographic equipment, including R/F suites, general radiographic systems, portable systems, C-arm fluoroscopy, and digital radiography systems. You will be trained to select the appropriate technical factors for optimal results and use proper radiation protection and shielding as prescribed in protocols. Trainees will gain competency in performing exams and procedures on neonates, infants, children, adults, and geriatric patients. You will be responsible for daily quality assurance, maintaining quality control standards, following research protocols, and inspecting imaging devices for any failures, reporting them to the manager promptly. Lastly, trainees will review requisitions with radiologists to assess the appropriateness of exams and perform any other duties as assigned.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in performing sterile technique procedures as required
  • Assist Radiologist as needed
  • Follow established quality assurance procedures
  • Maintain patient dignity and confidentiality
  • Provide patient education prior to the examination
  • Preparation of needed supplies and equipment setup

The RTT is expected to support UCLA healthcare radiology locations in the Santa Monica and Westwood regions. The ideal candidate will be currently enrolled in or a recent graduate from an approved Radiologic Technologist program.

Salary Range: $38.05 Hourly

Qualifications

  • BCLS certificate from American Heart Association or American Red Cross - required
  • Accredited Radiologic Technologist Program graduate
  • Ability to adapt to technological advancements and changing procedures
  • Ability to identify contraindications for exams (Radiology Only)
  • Ability to respond efficiently to the needs of referring services, physicians, and patients
  • Knowledge of clinical billing (IDX codes) to ensure proper accounting and reimbursement
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, with the ability to distinguish between procedures and diagnoses
  • Skill in independent decision-making during job functions
  • Courtesy and tact in handling heavy telephone lines
  • Understanding of EMTALA (Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act) requirements
