Job description

Radiological Technologist - Southampton Memorial Hospital

Join us at Bon Secours Mercy Health as a Radiological Technologist at Southampton Memorial Hospital. This PRN (as needed) role involves applying diagnostic imaging skills under the supervision of authorized personnel, ensuring safe and effective use of ionizing radiation.

Key Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree from an ARRT-accredited institute (preferred)
  • Certification and registration with ARRT (required)
  • State licensure (preferred, unless mandated by state)
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (required, must obtain prior to direct patient care)
Experience & Skills:
  • At least 1 year in radiation safety and patient care (preferred)
  • Experience with Radiology Information System (preferred)
  • Proficiency with EPIC EHR and PACS systems (preferred)
Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Obtain patient history and document lab work for licensed practitioners
  2. Position and immobilize patients respecting their comfort and ability
  3. Apply radiation protection principles to minimize exposure
  4. Operate imaging equipment to perform radiographic procedures
  5. Verify informed consent and document procedures
  6. Assist with fluoroscopic and specialized radiography procedures, maintaining aseptic techniques
  7. Perform timeouts as per policy
  8. Prepare and administer medications/contrast as prescribed
  9. Document orders and evaluate image quality
  10. Operate equipment following ALARA principles
