Job Summary

Perform a wide variety of routine duties including clerical, technical, and patient-related care. The Technologist Assistant is responsible for assisting the Technologists with daily department operations such as greeting and screening patients, preparing patients and rooms for examinations, assisting with exams, logging data into the computer system, and maintaining cleanliness of the work area. Contribute to the efficient operation of the department, promote clinical excellence, and ensure continuity of care. The individual may be assigned to work in various modalities.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Essential Skills Required
  • Knowledge of computer systems, technology, equipment operation, and safety protocols.
  • Patient care and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to follow physician's instructions.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently.
Essential Physical Requirements
  • Ability to be independently mobile.
  • Capability to transport wheelchair and gurney patients.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with reasonable flexibility.
Interrelationship Requirements
  • Effective interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, radiology personnel, radiologists, referring physicians, and co-workers.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Positive attitude towards patients, employer, and colleagues.
Major Duties/Critical Tasks
  • Obtain signatures and complete site-specific patient consents and insurance information.
  • Prepare and educate patients about their procedures.
  • Screen patients for contraindications.
  • Assess patient's signs and symptoms to prepare for procedures.
  • Complete scheduled and unscheduled work accurately and efficiently.
  • Follow safety measures within the department and environment of care.
  • Adhere to the profession's code of ethics.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Supervision

Reports To: Local Operations Manager

Equipment

Various types of radiological equipment and computer systems.

Additional Information

Position is entry level, full-time, within the healthcare industry, specifically hospitals and health care services.
