Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a related field or a high school diploma with 2 years of progressive related experience.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment on a wide variety of tasks.
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Outlook; must be able to wear protective gear.
• Must be able to participate in National Response Asset Deployment activities.
• Likely to participate in HRP and DOE Radiological Control Technician training programs.
• Must be self-motivated, capable of completing tasks with minimal supervision.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and teamwork ability.
• Basic knowledge of radiation protection principles and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in studies to formulate and evaluate design criteria for structures, systems, and equipment.
• Under guidance, perform radiological surveys and monitor conditions in assigned areas.
• Verify radiological instrumentation functions prior to use (air sampling, dose rate meters, contamination monitors).
• Post approved radiological signs to identify worksites and prevent unauthorized access.
• Perform routine work with minimal supervision following standard protocols.
• Follow radiological work permits, work packages, and procedures with approved control documents.
• Participate in briefings on radiological conditions and requirements of tasks.
• Ensure records for radiological surveys are generated using forms and logbooks.
• Maintain training and qualifications, attending necessary onsite/offsite training.
• Implement stop work authority when radiological or safety conditions warrant.
• Perform related tasks as assigned by supervisor under guidance of a qualified technician.
