Job summary

Emory Healthcare seeks a Radiologic Technologist to operate radiologic equipment and perform imaging procedures at Emory Hillandale Hospital. This full‑time night shift (Friday–Sunday, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM, 36 hours) includes a $15/hr WEO shift differential.

Responsibilities
  • Operate radiologic equipment to produce radiographs (x‑rays) of the body for diagnostic purposes.
  • Perform routine, portable, operating room or fluoroscope exams.
  • Perform complex radiographic procedures and provide guidance to lower‑level Radiologic Technologists and students.
  • Position patient, adjust equipment to produce high‑quality x‑rays, and explain various procedures to the patient.
  • Takes precautions to minimize staff and patient exposure to radiation.
  • Assist in training radiology staff and students. Assist in radiology quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
  • Effectively communicate with patients, family, and other health‑care team members.
  • Keep patient and families abreast of patient's progress.
  • Explain procedures to patients/families to reduce anxiety and to obtain patient cooperation.
  • Assist with patient/family education. Assume and provide patient care for radiologic procedures.
  • Anticipate potential patient crisis by continually evaluating patient during radiologic procedures.
  • Set up procedure rooms including equipment and supplies.
  • Assist with and perform multiple radiologic procedures in an appropriate timeframe.
  • Ensure that patients have been prepared for procedures.
  • Perform routine, portable, operating room, and fluoroscopic procedures to produce radiologic images.
  • Complete all aspects of patient care documentation following the established charting procedures.
  • Complete procedures in Radiology Information System to ensure billing of exams/procedures.
  • Participate in performance improvement data collection.
  • Follow all safety requirements of the hospital and department.
  • Practice radiation protection techniques using beam‑restrictive devices, patient shielding skills and knowledge of applicable exposure factors to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
  • Use personal protective equipment as required.
  • May participate on safety committee.
  • Properly operate, mobilize and position equipment.
  • Set exposure factors and use appropriate techniques and protocols.
  • Be responsible for safe operation of radiologic equipment.
  • Clean equipment and stock procedure rooms.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems and advise supervisor of equipment malfunctions.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology and registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience.
Physical Requirements

Medium: 20–50 lbs; 0–33% of the work day (occasionally); 11–25 lbs, 34–66% of the work day (frequently); 0–10 lbs, 67–100% of the work day (constantly). Lifting up to 50 lbs maximum. Carrying objects up to 25 lbs. Occasional to frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting. Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing). Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

Environmental exposures may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Possible exposures include blood‑borne pathogens, biohazardous waste, chemicals, gases, fumes, vapors, communicable diseases, electrical shock, floor surfaces, hot/cold temperatures, indoor/outdoor conditions, latex, lighting, patient care/handling injuries, radiation, shift work. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, is required.
