Job summary

Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center is seeking a Radiologic Technologist for weekend shifts. The position requires weekend coverage with a 9:00am–9:30pm schedule on Saturdays and Sundays, part-time and benefits-eligible.

You’ll work within a collaborative care team, maintain ALARA standards, and provide patient-centered imaging services. Responsibilities include operating radiographic equipment, ensuring image quality, maintaining infection control, documenting studies, and supporting

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• ARRT-R certification and BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Operate imaging equipment safely, maintain diagnostic quality at lowest reasonable dose (ALARA).
• Prepare rooms, disinfect equipment, and report issues promptly.
• Obtain history, verify orders, and confirm patient identifiers before exams.
• Explain procedures, prep, and post-care; address patient questions.
• Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety throughout visits.
• Perform exams and administer contrast per protocol with proper technique.
• Position patients, apply markers and shielding as indicated.
• Review images for quality and finalise studies in RIS/PACS.
• Monitor patient condition and assist with emergencies as needed.
• Maintain daily workflow and assist with department operations and compliance.

Required Qualifications:

• Education
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
• Experience
• Experience preferred, not required Less than 1 year entry level up to 5 years experience as Rad Tech Preferred
• Certifications
• ARRT-R (Radiography)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association

Core Responsibilities:

• Operate imaging/radiographic equipment safely and competently, adjusting technique to maintain diagnostic quality at the lowest reasonable dose (ALARA).
• Clean, disinfect, and maintain rooms/equipment per infection control schedules; identify and report equipment issues promptly.
• Obtain clinical history and screen for contraindications; verify orders and two unique patient identifiers before any exam.
• Explain procedures, prep, and post-care clearly using AIDET; address questions and reduce patient anxiety.
• Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety; provide age-appropriate care throughout the visit.
• Perform exams and administer contrast per protocol, using venipuncture and sterile technique when applicable.
• Position patients correctly and apply markers, shielding, and immobilization as indicated.
• Review images for diagnostic acceptability; repeat/correct as needed and release patients appropriately.
• Complete accurate, timely documentation and ensure studies are correctly finalized in RIS/PACS (including transfers/retrieval, CDs, and prior exam retrieval as needed).
• Monitor patient condition, respond to emergencies, and help maintain/restock crash cart and life-support equipment as required.
• Organize daily workflow to meet expected timeframes; collaborate with technologists/modalities to support department flow.
• Support operations and compliance, keep areas orderly and stocked, transport patients safely, complete charging/clerical tasks, follow regulatory requirements, and elevate issues to the supervisor.
