This job assesses patients and safely performs advanced radiographic procedures in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and protocols. Leads departmental programs, acts as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students, and assumes routine supervisory duties in the absence of the team leader.

Education

Required - Completion of a radiologic technology program in an AMA approved school.

Work Experience

Required - 5 years of radiologic technologist experience.

Certifications

Required - Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Licensed by the Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners in the state of practice.

Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (e.g., 24/7, weekends, holidays, on-call) and travel between facilities.
Job Duties
  • Verifies physician orders and procedures for accuracy.
  • Uses radiology information systems to facilitate care.
  • Explains procedures to patients to ensure understanding.
  • Operates equipment independently to complete imaging procedures according to protocol (may include placement of nasogastric tubes, IVs, urinary catheters, and administration of contrast).
  • Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality.
  • Performs quality control procedures in line with regulatory standards and addresses issues as needed.
  • Leads departmental programs, protocol development, safety initiatives, accreditation, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Assists in training and orienting junior staff; provides feedback for evaluations.
  • Adapts communication and behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy and obtaining permissions.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Heavy Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
