Job summary

HOLMES COUNTY MEDICAL CENTER is seeking a Radiologic Technologist-PRN to perform radiographic procedures and operate x-ray equipment, producing diagnostic images while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Responsibilities include preparing patients, selecting imaging settings, positioning, reviewing images for quality, documenting procedures, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment in accordance with safety and infection control practices.

Qualifications

• Mississippi Radiologic Technologist license is required.
• ARRT registration must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and radiation safety.

Responsibilities

• Performs radiographic procedures to produce images of internal body organs and bones.
• Explains procedures to patient, records medical history, selects equipment settings, and positions the patient for optimum imaging results.
• Views images to determine quality and forwards for review and interpretation; maintains applicable patient documentation.
• Maintains supplies and a clean work area; reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
• Assumes responsibility for patient safety; provides physical and psychological comfort to patient.
• Ensures compliance with workplace safety, environmental, exposure control, and infection control practices.

Job Summary

Certifications, Licenses, or Registration Required

Mississippi Radiologic Technologist license. BLS required within 90 days of hire date. American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) registration must be obtained within 6 months of hire date.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, radiation physics and protection, and the principles of imaging.

Requires frequent exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, constant handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, constant exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, constant work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, constant bending, constant lifting and carrying more than 100 pounds, occasional climbing, occasional crawling, constant crouching/stooping, frequent kneeling, frequent pushing/pulling, constant reaching, frequent sitting, frequent standing, frequent twisting, and frequent walking (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more).
