Description

The Radiologic Technologist (RT) in an Office-Based Lab (OBL) is responsible for performing high-quality imaging procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating vascular and interventional conditions. This role involves operating fluoroscopy and X-ray equipment, maintaining a sterile field, ensuring patient safety, and assisting with procedures in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and position patients for imaging procedures while ensuring safety and comfort.
  • Operate fluoroscopy and other radiologic equipment during interventional procedures to provide real-time imaging.
  • Ensure high-quality imaging by properly adjusting equipment settings and verifying image clarity.
  • Assist physicians and nursing staff during procedures by anticipating needs and handling sterile instruments as necessary.
  • Educate patients about the imaging process and ensure proper positioning to minimize radiation exposure.
  • Monitor patients during procedures and promptly respond to any complications or distress.
  • Follow all radiation safety protocols, including the use of protective shielding and monitoring devices.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and document imaging results in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Adhere to all regulatory and accreditation standards, including OSHA, HIPAA, and state radiation safety guidelines.
  • Perform routine maintenance and quality control checks on imaging equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Maintain a sterile and organized work environment, following infection control and safety protocols.
  • Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff to coordinate efficient patient flow.
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering radiology supplies, and ensuring equipment readiness.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuing education to stay current on industry best practices.
Requirements
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
  • Current ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification.
  • State licensure (if applicable in [Insert State]).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Experience in interventional radiology, vascular procedures, or an outpatient surgical setting.
