Summary

The Radiologic Technologist (X-ray Tech) is responsible for all departmental functions aligned with the mission, vision, and goals of PM Pediatrics. The role offers an opportunity for an x-ray tech to apply their skills in a pediatric urgent care setting and assist with primary patient care based on individual patient needs within their scope of practice under the physician’s direct supervision. This position involves maintaining effective working relationships with patients/families, physicians, employees, volunteers, and vendors.

Description

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Provide clinical and administrative support for providers, patients, and office operations.
  2. Obtain medical history, patient vital signs, and intake information.
  3. Prepare patients for radiological procedures and take x-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.
  4. Obtain quality diagnostic radiographs as requested by physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.
  5. Ensure all equipment is in good working condition and complies with applicable laws and regulations.
  6. Maintain and document daily quality control of radiology equipment at the start of each shift.
  7. Document repeat exposures and parent holding logs with pocket dosimeter reads.
  8. Assist in radiology quality assurance programs for radiography equipment.
  9. Immediately report any equipment malfunctions to the management team.
  10. Help patients in distress by promptly notifying medical staff of emergencies.
  11. Perform collection of throat and nasal specimens and process samples for testing.
  12. Assist in processing patient samples for laboratory testing and routine QA testing.
  13. Apply splints, ace wraps, and DME devices on patients.
  14. Provide patients with crutches and education on their proper use.
  15. Be an integral part of the patient care team.
  16. Keep exam and x-ray rooms stocked with adequate supplies.
  17. Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
  18. Follow policies and procedures to maintain operations and report needed changes to management.
  19. Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures.
  20. Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  21. Enhance healthcare practice reputation by taking ownership of new and challenging requests and exploring opportunities to add value.
  22. Assist patients with complaints and participate in service recovery when necessary.
Qualifications
  • Graduated from a Radiologic Technologist program.
  • Knowledge of medical practices, terminology, and clinic procedures.
  • Ability to use sound reasoning and judgment and remain calm in emergencies.
  • Effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of digital imaging.
  • Knowledge of electronic health records (eCW preferred).
