  • ARRT certification in Radiography must be obtained within 3 months of hire.

Primary Purpose

Responsible for acquiring quality diagnostic radiographic images for all diagnostic imaging procedures in assigned area of Radiology to provide optimal patient care.

Minimum Specifications
Education

* Must be a graduate of an accredited Radiology Program.

Experience

* None

Equivalent Education and/or Experience

* Equivalent education recognized and accepted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) to be eligible to sit for the ARRT(R) credential exam.

Certification/Registration/Licensure

* Must have ARRT certification in Radiography (R) within 3 months of hire.

* Must have Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) - Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) certification within 6 months of hire.

* Must have a current Healthcare Provider (BLS Level) CPR course completion card or obtain certification during initial orientation at Parkland from one of the following: American Heart Association, American Red Cross Rescuer, Military Training Network.

Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for producing quality radiographs of basic and complex exams/procedures, adapting procedures and technical factors based on patient conditions and history. Participates in quality review and adheres to radiation safety and infection control standards.
  2. Utilizes technical knowledge for accurate and timely procedures, completes exam charges, administers contrast material properly, and documents appropriately.
  3. Interviews patients, conducts screening, obtains medical history, explains procedures, and ensures proper image labeling and record completion.
  4. Maintains equipment, performs quality assurance checks, and reports malfunctions.
  5. Transports patients, collaborates with physicians and healthcare providers to meet radiographic needs.
  6. Participates in Performance Improvement programs, promotes the mission, and collaborates with team members for patient care.
  7. Responds to inquiries promptly, communicates effectively, and shares workload equitably.
  8. Maintains professional growth through certification, training, and knowledge application.
  9. Acts as a patient advocate, demonstrating excellent customer service and compliance with organizational values.
  10. Serves as a resource and potential supervisor within the department.
Job Accountabilities
  1. Identifies process improvements and enhances customer satisfaction, implementing and monitoring results.
  2. Stays updated with field developments by attending seminars, reading journals, and participating in organizations.
  3. Maintains knowledge of regulations, policies, and laws affecting the area, developing controls to ensure compliance and seeking guidance as needed.
