Qualifications
- Completion of a two-year AMA approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program is required.
- Must be licensed by the State of New York to practice Nuclear Medicine.

Nuclear Medicine Equipment
Performs Nuclear Medicine procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative. Performs duties according to age and condition of patient. Assumes responsibility for designated areas and/or procedures as required. Possesses knowledge of human growth and development. Be able to understand the range of treatment needed by each patient age.
Responsibilities:
- Positions and transfers patients.
- Provides immobilization devices as required.
- Selects proper technical factors.
- Selects and operates equipment as directed.
- Develops film
- Provides protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
- Assists physician in administering injections.
- In the absence of a supervisor a technician may be designated acting supervisor.
- Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination.
- When necessary, must transport patients to and from the Nuclear Medicine Department.
- Performs and records quality control tests on the equipment as prescribed by the equipment manufacturer, Radiation Physicist and New York City Department of Health.
- Performs and records Radiation Safety Checks in accordance with the accepted safety standards.
- Maintains a high level of customer service.
- Maintains adequate records as described.
- Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas.
- Performs all other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED, required. Completion of two (2) years American Medical Association approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology, required. Bachelor's degree preferred
- Licensed by the State of New York to practice Nuclear Medicine, required
- Certified by the ARRT or NMTCB, required.
