Job summary

Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA is seeking a Radiologic Technologist for night shifts. This full-time role involves imaging procedures and patient safety in a busy hospital setting.

You will operate CR/DR systems, assist with injections, and collaborate with physicians and staff. ARRT registry and BLS-HCP are required; a high school diploma and radiologic technology schooling are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; graduate of an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• ARRT registry or registry eligible.
• AHA BLS-HCP life support.
• Effective interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patients prior to, during, and after procedures according to CMC Guidelines.
• Positions patients to obtain quality images with safety and courtesy; performs IV contrast injections, urinary catheterizations, as required.
• Observes patients for adverse reactions and provides aid when necessary.
• Operates fluoroscopic and radiographic equipment including CR and DR.
• May use PACS for image management and EMR for patient data.
• Trains students and staff as assigned.
• Communicates with physicians, nursing staff, and patients to coordinate care.
• Cross-trains basic laboratory phlebotomy and performs waived testing per CLIA.
• Prepares patients, explains procedures, and relays results to radiologists.

Job Responsibilities

• Assesses patients prior to, during, and after procedures according to CMC Guidelines.
• Evaluates and positions patients to obtain quality images with a high degree of professional ethics, care, courtesy, patience and safety. Performs IV contrast injections, urinary catheterizations, and/or other procedures as required.
• Observes patients for adverse reactions and assists in aid when necessary.
• Operates highly specialized fluoroscopic and radiographic equipment including CR (Computed Radiography) and DR (Digital Radiography).
• May need to use PACS (Picture Archive Communication System)
• Assists patients, which may include scheduling, registration, file management and utilizes EMR (Electronic Medical Records).
• Trains students and staff as assigned.
• Participates as part of team to provide specific patient care functions and assures informed consent and patient education.
• Communicates with physicians, nursing staff, other hospital staff and patients
• Cross-trains basic laboratory phlebotomy and operates laboratory waive testing equipment (site specific) according to CLIA regulations.
• Prepares patients for examination and explains procedures. Evaluates lab results, patient history and relays to radiologist or procedure performing physician. Records and maintains all procedural data.
• Performs imaging procedures in the Emergency Department, Inpatient and Operating Room settings, provides trauma care, IV contrast injections and other skills as required.
• Assists physician during radiological or sterile diagnostic procedures.

What We Require

Education:High school graduate or equivalent required. Graduate of an approved School of Radiologic Technology required.

Experience:none

Licensure, certification, and/or registration:ARRT registry or registry eligible.

Life Support:AHA BLS-HCP required.

Other Minimum Qualifications:Effective interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills required.

Compensation Range:

$27.70 - $41.55

Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
