To assist the Cardiologists in performing invasive and diagnostic/interventional cardiac/vascular and electrophysiologic procedures; as well as technical hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation using automated techniques. Providing care to meet patient needs and handle other duties as required and assigned.

Responsibilities
- Assist cardiologists in performing invasive coronary/vascular/EP diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures using specific techniques.
- Set up and operate electrical/imaging equipment and computers.
- Possess knowledge of hemodynamic concepts, cardiac anatomy and physiology, and the purpose and operation of related equipment.
- Administer moderate sedation following policies and protocols.
- Understand EP concepts, fluoroscopic anatomy, and physiology involved in diagnostic and interventional EP procedures.
- Display good judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Organize and prioritize tasks based on procedural findings.
- Recognize and assist in treating complications from procedures.
- Advocate for patient needs.
- Set up sterile tables with appropriate supplies for procedures.
- Prepare and drape patients correctly.
- Use and understand supplies specific to cardiac/vascular procedures.
- Connect to physiologic monitoring equipment properly.
- Maintain radiation safety and operate imaging equipment safely.
- Interpret EKGs and recognize arrhythmias.
- Interpret hemodynamic and procedural results.
- Select and operate procedural supplies based on findings.
- Analyze data related to device implantation and function.
- Operate defibrillators effectively.
- Communicate and educate patients during procedures to reduce anxiety.
- Assist with anesthesia needs for sedated or anesthetized patients.
- Collaborate with research staff for laboratory-based research.
- Ensure effective communication with physicians and team members to optimize patient safety and outcomes.
- Train and mentor team members effectively.
- Interact professionally with vendors to ensure safety and positive outcomes.
- Update knowledge and skills with equipment changes.
- Check and evaluate equipment performance daily.
- Manage digital archiving of patient images and reports securely.
- Report and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions promptly.
- Query archived images and create CDs for transmission.
- Understand invasive cardiology routines and provide patient care during coronary procedures.
- Maintain aseptic technique and prepare sterile fields.
- Assist in passing sterile devices during procedures.
- Prepare instruments for sterilization and suggest procedural improvements for quality care.
- Accurately interpret and alert physicians to EKG irregularities.
- Document procedures comprehensively, including device use, patient response, medications, and complications.
- Select appropriate catheters for diagnosis.
- Participate in data collection, analysis, and process improvements.
- Engage in ongoing education to maintain licensure and knowledge.
- Ensure care aligns with standards, evidence-based practices, and safety goals.
- Identify opportunities for quality improvement and patient satisfaction enhancement.
- Follow up on patient and family requests and needs.
- Promote customer satisfaction and participate in unit councils.
- Identify practice problems and implement practice changes based on literature and outcomes.
- Participate in departmental decision-making and education.
- Share knowledge and guide new staff.
- Perform daily equipment quality checks.
- Complete and validate charges and coding accurately for billing and revenue purposes.
- Attend yearly education updates on CPT codes and maintain charge accuracy below 3%.
Qualifications
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Licensed Radiologic Technologist - Radiography - Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - within 1 year - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Registered in Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Education: Certificate of Completion in Radiologic Technology (Required)
Work Experience: Open to new graduates

Salary Range
