Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a Radiologic Technologist-Intermediate (Brain Health) to operate and maintain x-ray equipment, prepare patients, and assist radiologists in diagnosis. You will work on-site at 7703 Floyd Curl Drive, San Antonio, TX, performing imaging duties with attention to patient safety and comfort.

Requirements include three years of experience, ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, and comfort with imaging parameters and QA processes.

Radiologic Technologist-Intermediate (Brain Health)

Job Description

Under general supervision, responsible for operating and maintaining x-ray equipment and taking x-rays of various portions of the body to assist radiologist in diagnosis of disease and injuries.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains x-ray equipment and takes x-rays of various portions of the body as ordered by the provider while practicing radiation protection techniques at all times.
• Prepares patients for x-ray by administering drugs or chemical mixtures orally or intravenously; transfers.
• Assists patient as needed to include transferring, positioning and providing instructions regarding the procedure.
• Selects appropriate imaging parameters and operates console and peripheral hardware e.g. stands, positioning device, and any other devices/equipment used in radiology.
• Performs quality assurance on radiographs for optimal imaging; places service calls on equipment as needed.
• Maintains exam room cleanliness and stocks supplies.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Able to demonstrate knowledge and skill necessary to provide care and imaging to pediatric adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
• Ability to assess a situation, consider alternatives, and choose an appropriate course of action.
• Comfortable working with computers and large pieces of technological equipment.
• Must be able to work in a fast pace and high volume environment.
• Bilingual English and Spanish is a plus.
