Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a Radiologic Technologist-Intermediate for the Brain Health program. Responsibilities include operating x-ray equipment, preparing patients, positioning, and QA of radiographs to support diagnostic imaging under supervision.

Required credentials include a high school diploma or GED, Radiologic Technology training, ARRT/MRT licenses, and BLS. The role emphasizes radiation protection, fast-paced teamwork, and bilingual ability as a plus.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to provide care and imaging to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
  • Ability to assess a situation, consider alternatives, and choose an appropriate course of action.
  • Comfortable working with computers and large pieces of technological equipment.
  • Must be able to work in a fast pace and high volume environment.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Operates and maintains x-ray equipment and takes x-rays of various portions of the body as ordered by the provider while practicing radiation protection techniques at all times.
  • Prepares patients for x-ray by administering drugs or chemical mixtures orally or intravenously; transfers.
  • Assists patient as needed to include transferring, positioning and providing instructions regarding the procedure.
  • Selects appropriate imaging parameters and operates console and peripheral hardware e.g. stands, positioning device, and any other devices/equipment used in radiology.
  • Performs quality assurance on radiographs for optimal imaging; places service calls on equipment as needed.
  • Maintains exam room cleanliness and stocks supplies.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Experience: 3 years
Bilingual English/Spanish (bonus)
Computer literacy

Education

High school diploma or GED
Technical School - Radiologic Technology
Medical Radiologic Technology (Medical Board License)
ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
MRT Medical Radiologic Technologist
BLS Basic Life Support
