Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a part-time Radiology Technologist to join our imaging team in Illinois. The role emphasizes patient safety, high-quality image production, and adherence to established protocols.

Responsibilities include preparing and monitoring patients, administering contrast when appropriate, and ensuring accurate documentation and workflow within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technologist Program.
  • ARRT Radiography (R) certification.
  • Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) Accreditation.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains accountability for patient safety throughout the imaging process, including screening, preparation, monitoring, and post-procedure care.
  • Produces diagnostic-quality images using approved protocols and professional standards.
  • Apply professional judgment within approved protocols to optimize image quality and address imaging challenges.
  • Reviews images prior to exam completion and initiates corrective action when diagnostic adequacy is not met.
  • Administers contrast in accordance with policy, including screening for contraindications and patient monitoring (as applicable).
  • Operates imaging equipment and maintains imaging room readiness.
  • Identifies equipment performance issues and initiates follow-up through established service processes.
  • Coordinates exam flow and prioritizes time-sensitive studies.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation in medical record and image archive system, including exam set-up, image routing, result availability and charging accuracy.
  • Adheres to organizational values, ethical standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Consistently upholds all applicable quality and safety standards within diagnostic imaging, such as radiation safety, MRI safety, Infection prevention measures to protect self, patients, visitors and team members
  • Ensures a positive patient experience throughout care delivery
  • Supports department initiatives to improve relationships, reliability, efficiency, growth
  • Supports additional responsibilities aligned with patient care and department needs

Education

Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technologist Program

This position is part-time, 40 hours per pay period, day shift, with alternating weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technologist Program
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Radiography (R)
  • Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) Accreditation
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
