Job description

Responsibilities

Under general supervision, the Radiologic Technologist (AART) II is responsible for operating radiology equipment to produce imaging films as directed by physicians. Performs radiographic and cardiopulmonary procedures for routine diagnosis and treatment, including specialized procedures such as venography, myelography, and gastrointestinal exams.

  1. Produce and perform diagnostic radiographic procedures for interpretation by physicians or radiologists.
  2. Position patients and adjust equipment to obtain diagnostic images following established procedures.
  3. Examine radiology films and digital exams for properties such as density, contrast, definition, magnification, and distortion.
  4. Take X-rays of various body parts to diagnose disease or injury.
  5. Follow safety principles, radiation protection, and ensure patient comfort and care.
  6. Record test results and monitor patient data.
  7. Maintain radiographic logs and documentation of exams, patient names, and retake reasons.
  8. Maintain separate reports on all diagnostic X-rays.
  9. Keep accurate department records to comply with state and federal regulations.
  10. File and maintain logs of radiographs and diagnostic tests requested.
  11. Maintain current MSDS forms for the radiology department.
  12. Calibrate and maintain X-ray equipment.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Associate degree from an accredited school of radiologic technology.
  • Current/valid registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • At least 2 years of clinical experience in radiologic technology.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Training

  • Knowledge of radiology equipment, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Understanding of medical terminology and abbreviations.
  • Knowledge of safety hazards related to radiology, medical equipment, body mechanics, and patient movement.
  • Skills in properly positioning patients for quality imaging.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with standard practices and procedures in the field.
  • Strong work ethic and professionalism.
