Job Details

The Radiology Technologist performs x-ray scans of patients' internal anatomy to aid physicians in diagnosing illnesses, diseases, or injuries. The role involves executing radiologic services in compliance with relevant laws and regulations, providing consultation advice to patients and radiology professionals, and delivering patient care and education before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures.

Job Description

  • Interact with co-workers, visitors, and staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  • Position radiographic equipment or x-ray film appropriately to produce images with necessary detail or contrast for diagnosis and treatment.
  • Explain radiographic procedures to patients and obtain complete and accurate histories relevant to the examination.
  • Communicate effectively with patients.
  • Provide staff and patient protection in accordance with radiation safety standards, including using shields and aprons to limit exposure.
  • Implement and monitor compliance with local, state, and national regulations, standards, requirements, and clinical protocols for radiologic imaging services.
  • Maintain x-ray equipment through scheduled cleaning and testing, documenting results.
  • Maintain and update patient and study information to ensure billing and RIS/PACS accuracy, while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by the lead technologist, supervisor, or manager, including quality assurance and control tasks.
  • Maintain continuing education requirements for licenses and job positions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Graduate of an approved American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) program or current validated Registry from ARRT in Radiology Technology (R). ARRT (R), (CT) preferred.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required):

  • Knowledge of RIS systems.
  • Knowledge of PACS systems.
