Qualifications
- ARRT certification required for radiologic technologists.
- Current Kansas LRT license issued by the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.
- BLS certification either preferred or required by employer.
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
- Completion of a board-approved radiography program.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures as ordered by a licensed provider.
- Verify patient identity and physician orders before imaging procedures.
- Explain procedures and position patients correctly to obtain quality diagnostic images.
- Operate radiographic equipment safely and effectively.
- Follow ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure.
- Utilize appropriate radiation shielding and safety practices.
- Evaluate image quality and repeat studies when medically necessary.
- Maintain accurate documentation in EMR and PACS.
- Assist radiologists and physicians with imaging procedures as needed.
- Monitor patient condition during examinations and respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Maintain imaging equipment and report equipment malfunctions.

- Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Current Kansas Licensed Radiologic Technologist (L.R.T.) issued by the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (preferred or required by employer).
- Possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Successfully complete a Board-approved radiography educational program.
- Obtain and maintain a current Kansas Radiologic Technologist license before independently performing radiologic procedures, unless specifically exempt by Kansas law.
