Job summary

Duke Health is hiring a Radiologic Technologist for the Duke Urgent Care Float Pool in Durham, NC. This full-time role rotates across nine urgent care facilities, performing radiographs, ensuring safety and quality, and supporting fluoroscopic procedures. ARRT certification within one year and at least one year of experience required; two+ years preferred.

Qualifications

• Must obtain ARRT certification within one year of employment.
• Minimum of two years' experience as a diagnostic radiology technologist.
• A minimum of 4 years' experience within specialty modality in which they are seeking promotion.
• Completion of an AMA approved School of Radiology Technology and ARRT Certification.
• At least one year of experience as a certified Radiologic Technologist.
• ARRT certification
• BLS certification

Responsibilities

• Operate x-ray equipment to create radiographs of designated anatomical areas; adjust exposure per safety guidelines.
• Explain x-ray procedures to patients.
• Position patients for each view using positioning devices and protective equipment.
• Monitor equipment and assist physicians with fluoroscopic procedures and special radiographic procedures.
• Process images for optimal quality and match with paperwork for interpretation.
• Charge radiographic procedures and modify orders per protocol; critique positioning and technical factors.
• Understand and use the Image Archival System.
• Provide education and training to DUHS affiliated radiology programs.
• Provide orientation to new technologists.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work herein

Radiologic Technologist - Duke Urgent Care, Float Pool

Location: Duke Urgent Care locations in North Carolina

Work Schedule: Full-Time, (3) 12-hour shifts 7:45AM - 8:15PM with full week rotations

Duke University Health System seeks to hire an experienced Radiologic Technologist who will embrace our mission of Advancing Health Together. Our Duke Urgent Care Float pool offers the opportunity to float in between our nine urgent care facilities. Every Duke urgent care center has on-site laboratory and x-ray services to diagnose, treat, and manage urgent medical conditions and minor trauma. Each location is equipped with one CareStream scanner and one room.

What you will do:

• Perform a variety of tasks involved in operating x-ray equipment to make radiographs of designated anatomical areas of interest. Adjust equipment for proper radiographic exposure techniques in accordance with radiation safety guidelines.
• Explain x-ray procedures to patients.
• Position patients for each anatomical view using positioning assistance devices and protective equipment as necessary.
• Monitor accessory equipment and assist the physician with fluoroscopic procedures and special radiographic procedures.
• Accurately process images for optimal quality. Match with appropriate paperwork for interpretation.
• Charge radiographic procedures in; able to modify orders per protocol. Demonstrate acceptable film quality standards by critiquing positioning, technical factors, and collimation.
• Understands and uses the Image Archival System
• Provide education and training to DUHS affiliated radiology technology programs.
• Provide orientation to new technologists.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work herein

Required Qualifications:

Experience:

Level I

Must obtain ARRT certification within one year of employment.

Level II

Minimum of two years' experience as a diagnostic radiology technologist.

Level III

A minimum of 4 years' experience within specialty modality in which they are seeking promotion

Education:

Completion of an AMA approved School of Radiology Technology and ARRT Certification

Experience:

At least one year of experience as a certified Radiologic Technologist

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification
