Job summary

Mille Lacs Health System is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform general x-ray and portable imaging, ensuring high-quality diagnostic images while following ALARA principles. The role requires ARRT certification and a Minnesota license, plus current BLS.

You will document exams in the EMR and coordinate with radiologists, clinicians, and after-hours services to support patient care. Primary work at the Mille Lacs Clinic with potential assignments at the Onamia Hospital, typical hours

Qualifications

• Graduate of ARRT two-year radiologic technology program.
• Must have current Radiology license in the state of MN by the ARRT.
• Current BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs general x-ray and portables.
• Positions patients properly to obtain diagnostic, high quality images.
• Adheres to ALARA principles.
• Must follow physician instructions, prepare radiography equipment, position patients and obtain optimal images for diagnosis.
• Document in EMR for every exam performed.
• Communicates with radiologist exam details and status to be read.
• Submit studies to after-hours service with necessary information.
• Complete charges for exams performed.
• Burn CD or push DICOM images for transfers.
• Notify management of equipment issues.
• Keep manager apprised of equipment, scheduling, and department issues.
• Work towards radiologic competencies and learning of new modalities.
• Utilize downtime for assigned tasks.

Summary

This position takes images and radiographs of the body to assist the medical staff in the diagnosis of disease and injury.

Job Duties

• Performs general x-ray and portables.
• Positions patients properly to obtain diagnostic, high quality images.
• Adheres to ALARA principles.
• Must be able to closely follow physician instructions, prepare radiography equipment, position patients and obtain optimal images for diagnosis.
• Document in EMR for every exam performed.
• Communicates with radiologist (including off-site) exam details and status of exams to be read.
• Properly submits studies to after-hours service with all necessary information.
• Properly completes charges for exams performed.
• Burn CD disc or push DICOM images when requested by provider or patient for patient transfers.
• Notifies manager and appropriate department/company of any issues with equipment.
• Keeps manager apprised of equipment, scheduling, and department issues.
• Works towards radiologic competencies and learning of new modalities.
• Efficient/appropriate use of down-time working on various assignments as assigned by manager/supervisor.

Required Education and Experience

• Graduate of an ARRT recognized two-year technical program with certificate of completion or by equivalent outside study.
• Must have current Radiology license in the state of MN by the ARRT.
• Current BLS certification required
• Must have the ability to multi-task and work independently.

Preferred Education and Experience

• One to two years as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital setting strongly preferred.
• Associates Degree in Radiology or Healthcare.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This position is primarily based at the Milaca Clinic and will assist at the Onamia Hospital as needed. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., subject to change based on organizational needs.
