Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to join our hospital imaging team on a 7 on/7 off nights schedule. The role involves producing diagnostic-quality images, ensuring patient safety, and applying professional judgment across imaging procedures in a fast-paced environment.

The position requires graduation from an accredited Radiology Technologist Program and ARRT Radiography (R) certification, with BLS certification also preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technologist Program is required.
• ARRT Radiography (R) certification is required or expected.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains accountability for patient safety throughout the imaging process, including screening, preparation, monitoring, and post-procedure care.
• Produces diagnostic-quality images using approved protocols and professional standards.
• Apply professional judgment within approved protocols to optimize image quality and address imaging challenges.
• Reviews images prior to exam completion and initiates corrective action when diagnostic adequacy is not met.
• Administers contrast in accordance with policy, including screening for contraindications and patient monitoring.
• Operates imaging equipment and maintains imaging room readiness.
• Identifies equipment performance issues and initiates follow-up through established service processes.
• Coordinates exam flow and prioritizes time-sensitive studies.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation in medical record and image archive system, including exam set-up, image routing, result availability and charging accuracy.
• Adheres to organizational values, ethical standards, and compliance requirements.
• Consistently upholds all applicable quality and safety standards within diagnostic imaging.
• Ensures a positive patient experience throughout care delivery.
• Supports department initiatives to improve relationships, reliability, efficiency, growth.
• Supports additional responsibilities aligned with patient care and department needs.
