Oklahoma State University Medical Center is seeking a qualified Radiologic Technologist to operate radiographic equipment and produce high-quality radiographs. The role includes overseeing x-ray students and requires valid ARRT certification within one year of hire.
Responsibilities include ensuring proper patient care, handling multiple room assignments, and participating in performance improvement initiatives within the department. The position demands 24-hour on-call availability and strong communication skills.
Under the direction of the Radiology Clinical Coordinator, this individual must be able to operate all routine radiographic equipment safely and proficiently. This person must be a graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology and registered, or be registry eligible, with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. ARRT certification, if not held at the time of hire, is required within one year from the date of hire.
The incumbent must be able to produce high-quality radiographs with a minimum of repeats. Must be able to handle multiple room assignments and all different types of exams daily. Must be able to communicate with physicians, patients, families, and ancillary hospital personnel. Must directly oversee all duties assigned to first-year x-ray students, and indirectly oversee all duties assigned to second-year students; will assist in the evaluation of student progress. Will participate in performance improvement initiatives. Will assist with other activities as deemed necessary for the day-to-day operation of the department. This position requires 24-hour mandatory On-Call, requiring a return time of 30 minutes to the hospital when called.
The incumbent must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's competency plan.
