Job summary

Bryan College Of Health Sciences is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform diagnostic x-ray procedures under physician supervision. The role requires expertise in radiography, fluoroscopy, portable studies, and strict adherence to radiation safety practices.

The successful candidate will position patients, operate x-ray equipment, review histories in HIS/RIS/PACS, and maintain patient confidentiality while delivering high-quality imaging across all age groups.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a school of Radiologic Technology with ARRT certification.
  • Nebraska Medical Radiographer license required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or required by department policy.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all types of diagnostic x-ray procedures including radiography, fluoroscopy, portable radiography and portable fluoroscopy.
  • Practices radiation safety for patients, staff and self.
  • Uses sterile technique as required.
  • Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors.
  • Operates diagnostic x-ray equipment and supports systems (HIS, RIS, Scheduling System, PACS) and provides accurate documentation of studies.
  • Cares for and images patients of all ages while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Coordinates exams and communicates with medical staff to ensure quality patient care.
  • Handles scheduling inquiries and questions with courtesy and accuracy.
  • Cleans and disinfects equipment; notifies when service is needed and maintains supplies.
  • Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals pertinent to essential job functions per Medical Center procedures.

Summary

The Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic x-ray procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses x-ray technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the age continuum.


GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic x-ray procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses x-ray technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the age continuum.


PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


  • Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.

  • Performs all types of diagnostic x-ray procedures to include radiography, fluoroscopy, portable diagnostic and portable fluoroscopy; practices radiation safety for patients, staff and self.

  • Uses sterile technique as required.

  • Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors.

  • Competently operates all diagnostic x-ray equipment and support systems to include HIS, RIS, Scheduling System, PACS and offsite Radiologist Services

  • Utilizes department computer systems,PACS, to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies.

  • Properly cares for and images patients of all ages; maintains patient confidentiality.

  • Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; demonstrates flexibility in scheduling and proper communication with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care.

  • Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination, or questionswith courtesy and accuracy.

  • Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies coordinator of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed.

  • Keeps area properly supplied.

  • Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Graduate of a school of Radiologic Technology with current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required. Valid State of Nebraska Medical Radiographer license required.


OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
