Job summary

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform radiographic procedures and ensure patient safety in a high-volume environment at the La Grange, IL facility.

The role requires certification and at least 1 year post-certification experience with strong knowledge of imaging modalities, EMR/PACS documentation, and radiation safety practices. Importantly, you will communicate effectively with patients and healthcare teams.

Qualifications

• Knowledge in Diagnostic Imaging including Surgery and Trauma.
• One year post certification experience required to evaluate/instruct student radiographers.
• Ability to analyze data, techniques, equipment operation, and quality control for accurate results.
• Up-to-date knowledge of patient positioning and equipment operations.
• Able to read, write, and speak conversational English.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, providers, and staff.
• Move and operate radiographic equipment to perform procedures safely.

Job Description:

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, providers, team members, and others of diverse backgrounds.
• Moves, positions, and manipulates radiographic equipment to complete requested procedures safely.
• Performs direct patient care duties within the technologist’s scope of practice, including monitoring patient condition, transporting patient, and using proper infection control techniques.
• Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
• Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.
• Cross-trains into advanced modalities as needed.
• Ability to follow basic radiation safety concepts of time, distance and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patient and staff.
• Performs radiographic imaging procedures, ensuring high-quality images that meet department standards.
• Positions patients and equipment, selecting technical factors to produce radiographic images safely and in a timely manner.
• Performs imaging with correct patient demographic and examination information.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
• Assists patients during procedures, ensuring their comfort, safety, and privacy, in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledgeable in all aspects of Diagnostic Imaging to include Surgery and Trauma [Required]
• Previous Radiologic Technologist experience [Preferred]
• One year post certification experience required to evaluate and/or instruct student radiographers [Required]
• Ability to analyze and assess data, techniques, methodology, equipment operation, and quality control to ensure that information is obtained and presented accurately [Required]
• Up-to-date knowledge of patient positioning and equipment operations, including x-ray producing equipment, if applicable per facility [Required]
• Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals [Required]
• Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industry [Required]
• Able to fully use all Radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment [Required]
• Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English [Required]
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]
• Must be able to use computer system for data entry and retrieval [Required]
• Patient care skills to care for Infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient populations [Required]
• Must be able to independently perform radiographic procedures to departmental standards [Required]

• Ability to learn and use radiology software packages such as EPIC, PACS, etc. [Required]
