Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job Description: Radiologic Technologist

Department: Family & Internal Medicine / Radiology

Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Location: 6374 N Lincoln Ave, Chicago, IL 60659

Reports To: Practice Manager

Compensation: $32.00 - $42.00 per hour

Midwest Refuah Health Center is seeking a licensed Radiologic Technologist to support diagnostic imaging services within our Family & Internal Medicine department. This position is ideal for an experienced X-ray technologist who enjoys working directly with patients in a collaborative, community-based healthcare setting.

The primary responsibility of this role is performing diagnostic radiographic examinations. Because imaging volume may vary throughout the day, the Radiologic Technologist will also provide basic clinical support to assist with patient flow and clinic operations. Clinical support duties are limited to non-invasive tasks such as rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, stocking supplies, preparing examination rooms, and maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment. No invasive medical assistant duties are required.

This position requires strong patient service skills, flexibility, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality care in a fast-paced Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike environment.

Essential Radiology Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for radiologic examinations and explain procedures to ensure patient comfort and understanding.
  • Perform diagnostic X-ray examinations in accordance with provider orders and established radiologic standards.
  • Position patients appropriately and operate radiologic equipment safely and accurately.
  • Adhere to radiation safety protocols and utilize appropriate protective equipment.
  • Review images for quality and completeness prior to provider interpretation.
  • Maintain radiology equipment and promptly report equipment concerns or malfunctions.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state, federal, and organizational radiology regulations and standards.
  • Document radiology services accurately within the electronic medical record.
  • Maintain radiology logs, quality assurance documentation, and required records.
  • Assist with maintaining accreditation and regulatory compliance requirements related to diagnostic imaging.
Clinical Support Responsibilities
  • Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for provider visits.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked examination rooms and clinical work areas.
  • Assist with patient flow to support efficient clinic operations.
  • Monitor and replenish clinical and radiology supplies.
  • Support providers and nursing staff with non-invasive patient care activities.
  • Participate in daily huddles and collaborate with clinical staff to support departmental operations.
  • Cross-train in clinic workflows to assist with operational needs during periods of lower radiology volume.
  • Assist with basic administrative and operational tasks as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of radiologic procedures, radiation safety standards, and infection control practices.
  • Ability to perform diagnostic imaging while providing exceptional patient care.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and work independently.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and computer systems.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Commitment to teamwork, professionalism, and patient-centered care.
Education and Experience
  • Current ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) Certification required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two years’ radiology experience in an outpatient, urgent care, primary care, orthopedic, or similar clinical setting preferred.
  • Experience with electronic medical records required.
  • Experience in family medicine, community health, urgent care, or federally qualified health centers preferred.
Physical Demands
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance when necessary.
  • Ability to assist patients with positioning during radiologic procedures.
  • Frequent use of computers, phones, and office equipment.
  • Exposure to radiation minimized through the use of personal protective equipment and radiation monitoring devices.
  • Potential exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and other conditions common to a healthcare environment.
  • Frequent interaction with patients, providers, staff, insurance representatives, and community partners.
