Job summary

Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma, AL, seeks a Radiologic Technologist to perform diagnostic imaging with focus on patient safety and image quality. Position patients, select exposure factors, and operate imaging equipment in a fast-paced hospital setting in collaboration with physicians and nursing staff.

Qualified candidates have a postsecondary radiography program, ARRT and state licensure, BCLS, and at least 1 year radiologic experience; willingness to participate in ongoing quality

Qualifications

• Postsecondary program in radiography completed.
• ARRT certification and state licensure required on hire.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient history and physician’s orders.
• Educates patients about procedures, equipment and exams.
• Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications as within scope.
• Monitors patient condition and reports changes as appropriate.
• Prepares equipment and supplies.
• Selects exposure factors and imaging parameters.
• Implements safety standards and quality control procedures.
• Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions.
• Positions patients and performs imaging procedures.
• Analyzes results and addresses image quality issues.
• Resolves image quality issues and may repeat procedures.
• Enters, transmits and reports scan results.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures to support accurate and timely patient diagnosis and treatment. This role is responsible for safely positioning patients, selecting appropriate technical factors, and producing high-quality images in accordance with physician orders, established protocols, and regulatory standards. The Radiologic Technologist applies professional judgment to ensure image quality, patient safety, and comfort, while adhering to radiation safety principles and quality control requirements. The position works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff to deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Essential Functions

• Reviews patient history and physician’s orders
• Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient’s understanding and cooperation
• When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice
• Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate
• Prepares equipment and supplies
• Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters
• Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment
• Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or report equipment malfunctions as necessary
• Positions patient and performs imaging procedures
• Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results
• Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure
• Enters, transmits and reports scan results
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education

• Postsecondary (Cert/Diploma/Program Grad) graduate of an accredited program of medical radiography (required)

Licenses/Certifications

• Licensed Radiologic Technologist in the state of practice Upon Hire (required)
• ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Upon Hire (required)
